(D)Based on Tax Law, if the prize money is above NT$19,999, 10% of the prize money will be taxed for winners who are citizens of Taiwan and 20% for winners who are non-citizens of Taiwan. (Please submit the photocopy of ID or passport.)

(E)Participant whose record is qualified for the top 10 will not be participating in group ranking.

(F)In order to encourage senior participants, top 10 finishers of Male A (males over 70 years old) and Female A (females over 60 years old) in both Marathon and Half Marathon will be awarded with prizes and medals.

(G)Participants who completed Marathon and Half Marathon within the time limit have to bring the timing chip to claim the finishing certificate at Certificate Collection Site before 1:30 p.m. on the competition day. No reissued will be made after the competition.

(H)Bravery Award: There will be Bravery Award for first-time Marathon participants. Participants who want to apply for Bravery Award need to select the related option in registration form. Application fee is 200 NT (will be returned in case the participant cannot manage to finish the race). The mode of this award will be updated separately.

M. Storage of personal belongings

Personal belongings must be put into a bag before storage if needed (organizer is not responsible for the loss of valuables). Personal belongings storage service begins at 5:00 a.m. of 26th February 2017, and should be retrieved with receipt before 1:50 p.m. on the same day.

N. Collection starting

  1. Participants of Marathon and Half Marathon are required to fill in the best record in the past 2 years.
  2. The English code written on the number cloth is gathering area’s code. Runners need to be at the gathering area 10 minutes before starting time. Runners who are later than 10 minutes before starting time will have to start at last.
  3. Runners who are 10 minutes late after starting time may be suspended from the competition without result recording, for safety reasons.

Q. Timing Statistics

  1. This competition uses recycle timing chips for all. Runners need to return the chips and shall receive 100 NT deposit after finishing (at the area of returning timing chips deposit), please pay attention at this! (For better induction, please place the chip flat on your shoes with forward direction, and tie it up with the shoelace. Please DO NOT put the chip in your waist pocket, shoulder harness or in your hand.
  2. This competition uses chip timing for all, all results shall be based on gun time. The statistic results shall be based on the time when runners reach the destination. (The results shall be detailed with starting and finishing time on the certificate).
  3. Timing mats shall be placed at starting place and destination, and also be placed along the course after every five-kilometer run. The timing mats setting of Half Marathon group shall be adjusted up to Marathon group. Therefore, runners should cross the mats correctly, unless the results shall be failed to count, the qualification shall be cancelled, and the certificate shall be not available consequently.

R. Supply

  1. After a five-kilometer run, there is a supply depot every 2.5 km.
  2. Personal refreshments should be sent to certain counter (at Conference Desk) by 5:30 a.m. on competition day. Athlete bib number and desired mileage should be noted clearly.

S. Violations and Penalties

●Participants who do the following actions will be disqualified.
  1. Not following the instructions from the referees.
  2. Not wearing athlete bib in the front of the chest area.
●Participants who do the following actions will be disqualified.
  1. Using false ID information during registration.
  2. Violating sportsmanship (causing disturbance or insulting staffs, etc.)
  3. Bring pets to the race course (unless for Fun Run).
  4. Benefiting from others’ assistance during the race (vehicles, shouldering, etc.).
  5. Using substitution to attend the competition.
  6. Athlete bib and chip should be kept carefully after check-in. There will be no re-issuing. Participants with no athlete bib are considered disqualified, and those with no chip will not have record.
  7. Not wearing clothes.

T. Insurance

All participants are provided with NT$ 3,000,000 public incident insurance.
(All details will be according to the insurance contract of the insurance company.)
A. Participants who have certain ailments or have history of diseases listed above should pay extra attention to health condition and safety. Additional personal accident/medical insurance is advised. No health assessment will be made by the organizer before the competition. Participants need to take full responsibility for the risks.
B. All participants are provided with NT$ 3,000,000 public incident insurance. (All details will be according to the insurance contract of the insurance company.)
C. Public incident insurance coverage
When the insured is legally liable to provide indemnification for third-party bodily injury, death, or third-party property damage caused by any of the following accidents during the insured period and in connection therewith receives a claim, the insurance company is liable to the insured for indemnification:

  1. An accident that occurs on-site at the premises specified in this insurance policy due to an action taken by the insured or an employee to operate the business.
  2. An accident that occurs with respect to a building, pathway, piece of machinery, or other work object at the premises of the insured.
D. Exclusions
  1. Personal illnesses that cause injuries.
  2. Symptoms as a result of personal health or cardiovascular diseases, such as shock, heart disease, diabetes, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, altitude sickness, epilepsy, or dehydration, etc. emergency medical care will be provided on the day of the competition. Diseases caused by personal illnesses will not be insured, and only injuries caused by accident are liable for public accident insurance compensation.

U. Attention

  1. Safety
    1. Referees, medics, or safety control officers have the right to suspend or disqualify any participant depending on one’s physical conditions or road safety. Participants shall not pretest against such decisions.
    2. Participants should pay attention to own health condition while attending the event. Do not manage to join or continue if there are concerns or risks such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Otherwise, the organizer will not be responsible for those who conceal their health conditions.
    3. Be aware of the traffic and passengers during the race for safety concerns.
  2. Participants shall carry ID information for identification.
  3. The organizer has the right to cancel or postpone the event, or change racing courses for safety concerns (typhoons or other natural disasters). Participants shall not protest against such decisions. Participants will get 30% of refund if the event is eventually canceled.
  4. The organizer has the right to broadcast or publish the videos, photos, and records of this event on related websites and journals worldwide for promotion and publication.

Statement of Personal Information Protection

  1. It’s necessary that Kaohsiung Marathon Federation (hereinafter “the Organizer”) needs to collect related information of participants such as name, sexuality, identity number (or passport number to foreigners), date of birth, phone number, residence address, email address, emergency contact, etc., for the purpose of managing registration, applying for insurance, receiving or sending souvenirs, and contacting for the activity or in emergency.
  2. For the purposes above, the Organizer shall make necessary contacts to participant or his/ her emergency contact during the time of the activity (E.g.: phone call, messages, email, etc.). Besides, we will provide participant’s information to the authorized practitioners for sending the receipts or souvenirs, and for applying insurance.
  3. The Organizer regards participant’s registration as the agreement with broadcasting or publishing the videos, photos, and records of this event on related websites and journals worldwide for promotion and publication. Participants should agree with sharing your photos and results during the competition with Organizer for the purpose of publicity.
  4. For the reasons above, when the Organizer collects, processes, or uses your personal information, you can have the right to provide your information or not. However, if you choose to not provide or provide limited information, this shall cause failing to finish registration or to apply for insurance.
  5. The Organizer shall retain the personal information you provide, according to the 3rd Article in The Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Taiwan, you can have the following rights to keep your personal information protected:
    • any inquiry and request for a review of the personal information;
    • any request to make duplications of the personal information;
    • any request to supplement or correct the personal information;
    • any request to discontinue collection, processing or use of personal information; and
    • any request to delete the personal information.
  6. The participant (Emergency contact included) who needs to wield the rights of personal information protection above, please contact the Organizer for this.
